Spring Design For Journalism Section 2

Welcome to Design for Journalism

This blog will be our virtual home for this course. Here you will turn in assignments, and find instructions on requirements for the projects you will do in class.

I have a few simple rules for this course.

1. No paper – Since everything we do in class can be turned in electronically, over the internet, I do not want to see anything printed for this course. Because we share a syllabus with several other instructors, and everyone has their own style, you will see a couple of times to turn in something printed in the syllabus. Please ignore this.  Same goes for CDs or DVDs.  If you’re trying to hand me something tangible, I don’t want it.

2. Be on time, and show up.  Seriously, you can’t learn if you don’t  come.  More importantly, it hurts the other students who do show up every day by making them wait through your repeat questions from all of the material you missed.  If you are going to miss a class, make sure that you make up the lost work on your own time and do not waste valuable class time with questions you could have covered during regularly scheduled class. There is one unexcused absence in this class.

3. No food or beverage in this lab. Now, I know this is an 8am course and many of you will want to have a coffee with you. All I ask is that if you must bring in coffee, please keep it on the center tables and away from the computers.

4. My email address is colin@colinmlenton.com  (and also clenton@temple.edu, and lentonc@gmail.com – don’t worry they all go to the same place). Please feel free to email me with any questions you might have.  I will do my best to get back to you in a timely fashion, but please be aware that if you email me at some ridiculous time – say midnight on a Saturday – I am 99% not available to answer your question at that time. Normal business hours are best, followed by standard weekday evening times.

Cheers!
